This Week's Program (Aug 18): Gill Wesche, NeighborWorks Infill Project
Charles Wesche joined NeighborWorks Lincoln 7 years ago and is currently the organization’s Chief Executive Officer. Prior to being named CEO in August of 2024, Charles held positions at NeighborWorks Lincoln as a Construction Manager, Director of Real Estate Development, and Chief of Staff. NeighborWorks Lincoln is a Community Development Housing Organization that assists low-to-moderate income residents with the purchase of their first home, builds 15-25 new homes each year, and strengthens neighborhoods through community building and engagement efforts.

Charles has over 15 years of experience in residential construction & affordable housing development, having built or rehabilitated hundreds of homes for Lincoln’s low to moderate-income residents. Charles created the Prairie Roots Community Land Trust, currently oversees the trust’s portfolio, and continually advocates both locally and nationally for innovative approaches to providing affordable housing opportunities. Charles also currently serves as the Manager for the South of Downtown Community Development Organization.

Prior to his time at NeighborWorks, Charles owned and operated a residential remodeling company that operated in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent time for new members of Rotary to meet other Rotarians in a smaller, more relaxed setting.

Jon Gayer will be joining us to talk about the International Student Picnic, and President Randy will be there to meet the new members. See you in about an hour!

Volunteer for the International Student Picnic
It's been a long-standing tradition for Rotary 14 to host a picnic for collegiate students in our community. This year’s picnic will take place Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Holmes Lake.

Here you’ll find a list of items we hope to have donated to help make the event a success. Additionally, we’re looking for volunteers to assist with setup or clean up. Or, if you have a spare gift card lying around that you'd like to donate, we’ll take that, too! Every little bit helps.

Our greatest needs include:
  • Cases of Water
  • Use of a Cooler with Ice
  • Desserts (non-meltable)
  • Give away prizes for students (Lincoln swag, gift cards, university clothing, gift baskets etc.)
  • Food (Vegetarian and vegan options)
  • Help with setup from 2:00-2:45 p.m.
  • Help with cleanup from 5-6 p.m.
This year we're providing three options to help make it easier to donate:
  • Deliver items to a Rotary meeting (on or before September 2rd)
  • Deliver to Holmes Lake on the day of the picnic
  • Request a pick up (We will come to you and get the donation. You’ll be contacted after submitting).
This is an event that has welcomed many international students and many look forward to.
