Blossomed Out of Pure Love for the Community: With over two decades of floral design experience inspired by her mother’s gardening passion, owner Natalie Elsberry has always felt the Lord’s calling to spread her love for flowers and plants throughout Lincoln, Nebraska. Natalie founded and operated I Bloom, a local floral company specializing in wedding arrangements, before launching her own full-service flower boutique storefront for every occasion in 2019.
Of the Earth Florals has since filled the city’s gap as a warm and welcoming one-stop-shop for flora and fauna, local gifts and goodies, daily deliveries, community gatherings and more, meeting several customer needs that other flower shops in the city hadn’t been fulfilling. They offer the freshest, most lush and eclectic flowers available, and are guided by an unending love for natural beauty and sustainability. Treat yourself or a friend to a beautiful arrangement, join them for a class, request delivery for your next big event or simply stop by their store and say hello. April 21-28 is Rotary 14's week to fill Little Food Pantries. You can sign up on the Rotary website and also find pantry locations (there is likely one in your neighborhood). Needed pantry items include canned meat, box dinners, bread, peanut butter, jelly, canned and fresh vegetables, tampons, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. Some of our Rotarians take their children or grandchildren along as a fun lesson in citizenship and empathy. You will also receive a meeting makeup for filling a pantry. Thank you for helping our neighbors!
At our meeting last Tuesday, Rotary 14 Member Kevin Wailes was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow + 3 of The Rotary International Foundation. Kevin was recognized by Terry Wittler and President Jess Kinser. We honor and thank Kevin for his generous and ongoing support of Rotary International.
Last Tuesday Darold Karmazin and Kevin Wailes were recognized by the Rotary 14 Foundation for their pledges to the 5/25 Campaign.Our 5/25 Campaign casts a vision to build the endowment to a goal of $5 million dollars by 2025. Congratulations, Jackson Olberding, recipient of the Rotary 14 High School Student Leadership Award at Lincoln North Star High School. Jackson joined Rotary 14 on Tuesday, April 16 to accept this honor.
Every year, Rotary 14 invites a student from each local high school to present information to the club membership regarding the importance of community service at their school. To share the Rotary mission with area high school students and create an interest in the ideals of service. Committee members work with school administrators to identify a student leader to accept the award and work with those students to create a short presentation to be given at a regular club meeting.
These same students are encouraged to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards seminar held by Rotary District 5650 each spring. They are also made aware of the Club’s High School Scholarship criteria and encouraged to apply, if appropriate.
Maury Halstead's Memorial Service & Luncheon will be held on June 1st at the Lincoln Memorial Park at 6800 South 14th Street at 11:00 a.m. The luncheon will follow immediately. Rotarians are welcome!
