Mari Lane Gewecke was a founding partner in 1991 of the consulting firm now operating as Lane Gewecke Consulting. In 2015, she was named Alumna of the Year by the Nebraska Women's Leadership Network of the Nebraska Alumni Association.
Her statement on why she supports The Rotary Foundation: "I support the Rotary International Foundation because of the breadth of its philanthropic activity around the world. My personal interests as a Foundation donor are in the environment and, most recently, the crisis fund set up by the Rotary Foundation to support Ukrainian relief efforts. The speed at which the Foundation responded to the devastating humanitarian crisis along the borders of Ukraine is emblematic of what our Rotary Foundation can do in and for our world."
The Parks and Recreation Department and Lincoln Parks Foundation invited the public to view the restored Cascade Fountain Sunday, June 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at South 27th Street and Capitol Parkway. Among those in attendance were Rotary 14 Rotarians. Rotary 14 donated $200,000 towards the $1.6 million fundraising campaign in January 2020 to renovate Cascade Fountain and surrounding grounds. The project included rehabilitation and refurbishment of the fountain, related site improvements, and an endowment to maintain the fountain and adjacent areas. The project took 18 months to complete.

Some special notes:
Thursday, July 7, 1pm-4pm. This is a special pre-conference event for anyone who wants to grow and learn about cutting-edge leadership concepts and practices. Hear from thought leaders in the areas of inclusive leadership, leading in the Great Resignation, leading strategic initiatives, and using your influence to make global impact. This session is free and will be held at Full Fledged Brewery in Council Bluffs.
Thursday, July 7, 5-8pm. PARTY! Gather with fellow Rotarians (and potential Rotarians as it is open to the public) for some local pizza, salad, and of course awesome beer (it is also at Full Fledged Brewery). But best of all the Rotary Band (we need a funky name for these folks) will be playing a few songs we know by heart. Very special thank you to Mick McKinley and Mark Sanford for leading our band.
Kids are welcome and encouraged. We just need to know they are coming. Please register you and them early so we can have plans in place. Our Kids Activities Chair is an expert, Conor O'Hara! (he's an actual kid).
