She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Microbiology at the University of Michigan. After a year and a half there, Kelsi realized that teaching and working with students were her passion and began teaching at Concordia University Ann Arbor in the fall of 2010. In July 2016, she moved back to Lincoln and started working at Bryan College of Health Sciences as the Biomedical Sciences Program Director.  In January 2018, she became the Provost of Bryan College of Health Sciences.

She has been married for 18 years to husband Dirk. They have a daughter, Sydney, who is 8. They love to spend as much time as they can outdoors exploring, hiking, swimming, building snowmen, etc. She also like watching movies, reality TV, eating, attempting Pinterest projects, and spending time with good friends.
