The Mandela Fellows

Tomorrow July 23, we'll meet 25 engaging young folks from all across Africa. Our program will feature comments from two members of this year's group of Mandela Fellows who are spending a month in Lincoln. Come meet these interesting people. Come be encouraged about the future of Africa. Come be inspired about how we can contribute to our world through connecting with these folks.

Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders: UNL is in its third year hosting the Mandela Washington Fellowship Leadership in Civic Engagement Institute. This prestigious State Department sponsored program is designed to explore how individuals and organizations shape local communities by identifying, analyzing, collaborating, and solving societal needs and issues. Twenty-five Fellows representing 18 Sub-Saharan countries arrived in Lincoln on June 19 and have been living and learning on UNL campus through Friday, July 26. Linda Major, director of UNL's Center for Civic Engagement, will introduce two of the Fellows to share remarks with Rotary 14 about their experience in Lincoln and their work at home in Africa.
