The history of the relationship between Russia and the United States is long and complex. It dates back to the American revolution and has taken many twists and turns since. The current investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 elections has caused tension and increased the awareness of the American public. Our program on October 2 will feature a presentation detailing several instances of the Russian Federation's attempts to undo the core aspects of U.S. hegemonic power - oil, the dollar and the geostrategic alliance with China - which have been in place since the 1970's. Our speaker will be Christopher Banks, the Director of the International Relations B.A. Program at Union College in Lincoln. Banks has worked with the Washington Institute on Near East Policy and the Corporate Council on Africa. Mr. Banks is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland and has lived in Lincoln since 2015.
