Introducing Club Intern Libby Valerio-BosterRotary is known more for the projects and activities we do than for the people who are part of the organization. Yet, it’s the members who actually make up our Club and do the projects. We’re working on a plan to develop and share stories about Rotary 14 members. We’ve arranged for an intern in the UNL Honors Program to interview 10 to 12 members of Rotary 14, snap a few photos of that person and draft stories. These stories will then be used to share on the Club’s website, social media and perhaps submitted to the Journal Star and District 5650 for subsequent publication.
After the interviews have been conducted and articles written, the intern will coordinate with Randy Bretz to do a second interview—this time on video—with one or two of the subjects from the initial interviews. This video will be edited and shared on the Club’s YouTube site.
Libby Valerio-Boster is the student who will be working on this project beginning in January and continuing through March. Bretz will be her primary contact with Rotary 14. In addition to the interviews, she’ll be invited to participate in Club meetings and activities during her time on the project.
In January, some members of our club will be contacted and asked if they’d like to participate by sitting for an interview. Libby will follow up and schedule times and locations for the interviews, draft them and turn them over to our club for publication. She’ll be asking about involvement with Rotary, what projects we do that people especially like, a few personal notes and comments about why others would enjoy Rotary. Remember, Rotary 14 may be the place to be . . . but it’s the people who make the place special.
