LTC (RET) Allen Beermann was awarded the E. Benjamin Nelson Award. For outstanding achievement during a 48-year career in public service to our state. He served as the Secretary of State from 1971 to 1994 and 24 years as the executive director of the Nebraska Press Association. LTC Beermann continues to be active in the Big Red Sub Club, organizing annual visits to the USS Nebraska and also hosting the crew each year at the Statehood Day Dinner. Congratulations, Allen!In addition, he served as the Nebraska ESGR state chair from October 1997 to September 2003, working to develop and promote effective relationships between employers and members of the Guard and Reserve. LTC Beermann has been described as Nebraska's unofficial diplomat and most importantly has been a role model for all of us in his dignified and civil leadership. His actions reflect great credit upon himself, the National Guard Association of Nebraska, the Nebraska National Guard, and the United States Army and Air Force.
