December 1st is Hat Day at Rotary! Zoom in with your hat tomorrow, December 1st. Any hat. The Propeller Editor will be looking for the "best hat or the most outrageous hat." Here's a sample of Rotarians wearing hats. The winner will be featured in The Propeller next week. The winner must be signed up for the Salvation Army bell ringing to receive a prize from Bell Ringing Chair Jay Wexler. Click here to sign up for bell-ringing or contact Jay Wexler. We still need 20 volunteers.
On November 20, Anne Brandt and Brooke Goedert volunteered to read aloud at Everett. Here's Brooke Goedert during virtual storytime with the adorable preschoolers in Mrs. Doremus’ class. Brooke read them Be Brave, Little Penguin!

Congratulations to Ryan and Anita Foor on the arrival of baby Greta Rae! Greta Rae was born on November 12 at Bryan East in Lincoln. She was born about 6 weeks premature and is in the NICU as she learns to breathe and eat on her own. She is making great progress each day! Mom, Anita, is doing very well and the three sisters at home are excited to meet their baby sister.
ISSO and Lincoln Rotary Club #14 have had a long-standing relationship for over 15 years. Every fall, Lincoln Rotary Club #14 hosts the International Student Picnic to welcome new international students. The COVID-19 pandemic changed this tradition to a virtual experience. Recognizing the limitations of a video call in creating a sense of community, Rotary Club #14 brainstormed with the universities to further expand the gathering through a mentorship program between Rotary #14 members and international students.
ISSO has worked closely with Rotary Club #14 to create and launch the new mentorship program. More than 20 current and new international students applied to participate in the program. Due to the high amount of applications across participating universities and a limited number of mentors available, 5 students from UNL were chosen for the inaugural launch of the program. Full story
