With sincere sympathy, we announce that Doris Cook passed away on November 17th, 2019 at age 88. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Willard A. Cook. Throughout her life, Doris was passionate about music and fashion. Doris owned and operated the Purse Revue, a women's specialty shop, for 26 years. She served as a business advisor for the Center for Entrepreneurship at UNL, traveling to Europe, China, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea.
Doris was a committed civic volunteer. She was active in Lincoln Rotary Club #14 for 27 years, and proud of her perfect attendance. Doris served as president of the Lincoln Symphony Board, Symphony Guild, and Community Playhouse Guild.
Doris's dedication to the arts and community made an important difference in Lincoln's cultural fabric. She has passed on her passions for civic engagement and music to all of her children and grandchildren.
Contributions in memory of Doris Cook may be made to: Lincoln Rotary Club #14, the Lincoln Symphony, First Plymouth Congregational Choir, and The Landing Scholarship Fund. Presentation: Transforming Lincoln Neighborhoods. Started in 2016 and about one-quarter of the way to completion, the Telegraph District Project covers 17th Street to 21st (west to east) and K Street to O Street (south to north). Clay Smith from Speedway Motors and Ben Kiser from Nelnet will share the latest development in this transformative project that serves Lincoln neighborhoods.
Last week, Incoming Director and past TRF Chair Ken Koop recognized Bill Mueller for achieving Paul Harris Fellow +1. Bill is the Senior Partner of Mueller Robak LLC and he has been a Rotarian for 8 years. Bill's total donation to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is $2,000. Congratulations and thank you, Bill!

Last week at Rotary, President Mailani Veney presided the meeting. Randy Hawthorne conducted club business. Maury Halstead was Sgt. at Arms. We heard from Tom Fields of the Engler AngriBusiness Entrepreneurship and his three Scholars. Incoming Director Ken Koop recognized Bill Mueller for achieving Paul Harris Fellow +1. Suzanne Sughroue gave a brief recap of our Nebraskan of the Year event. We welcomed returning Rotarian Doug Mathers and newest Rotarian Chris Whitney. Past President Steve Glenn shared with us his experience as Rotary 14 President when he was the "youth movement" of Lincoln Rotary, 30 years ago. To cap Steve's reminiscing of his presidential year, he led the assembly in singing a favorite Rotary song during his time. TIPS: 1) Attend our weekly meetings, 2) If you miss our weekly meeting, watch our Facebook Live Streaming and get a make up credit, 3) Attend a committee meeting, 4) Attend any of our club activities, 5) Watch out for attendance credits that won't expire from our club big events, such as Nebraskan of the Year, Rise.Shine.Give, and Salute to Business, 6) Attend a nearby Rotary Club and get makeup credit, 7) Meet up with 3 or more Rotarians to talk about anything under the heat of the sun for Rotary, 8) Go online and do online makeup.

For all other club members, the club will match any contribution above the $100 Sustaining Member level per Rotary year (minimum match is $100), but not to exceed $500.
