The NEBRASKAland Foundation unveiled a new plaque on March 1 (Nebraska's birthday), in the State Office Building honoring the 174 Distinguished NEBRASKAlanders recognized over the years. Again, Rotary #14 dominates. In the picture with Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley and Legislative Speaker Mike Hilgers are Rotarians Allen Beermann, John Zimmer, and Roger Lempke. Congratulations!
Allen and Linda Beermann traveled to Oakland, California, to visit their grandson Isaac. Allen reports that grandson Isaac helped create an all-edible bunny cake. In photo L to R: Linda, Allen, Jay, and Isaac.
Editor's note: As travels pick up, don't forget to send photos for the Propeller's Traveling Rotarian portion.
Last week at Rotary, we learned about the wonderful Lincoln Community Playhouse from Morrie Enders, executive director. Sign up to help with the Roadside Cleanup on Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m. Contact Todd Crawford with questions. Club Secretary Morrie Enders had several members on tonight’s Wheel of Misfortune: Barb Bartle for being selected by The Bob Woodruff Foundation as a Local Partner Champion, Carey Collingham for a story about coming back from accidents to resume his cello playing (he also gave a Rotary mention too – thanks, Carey). John Gessert for completing a course to become a chartered advisor in philanthropy from the Omaha Community Foundation. Alan Hersch for a color photo of him fishing at Holmes Lake, Bryan Seck for providing families with beds. A Spreetail executive said he would like to clone Bryan – so Morrie gave him two spots on the wheel. Chuck Schroeder for an article in the L Magazine about him returning to Lincoln three times. Erin Dobesh for being named Senior Associate Partner at Davis Design. Allen Beermann and Craig Strong for receiving National Guard Awards. Randy Hawthorne and Bill Stephan for collaborating on a video about safely returning to the Lied Center. Secretary Enders spun the wheel, and it landed on Barb Bartle! Congratulations – you win the honor of paying a fun fine (amount of your choosing). Please keep Peggy Green’s family in your thoughts. Peggy passed away on March 30th.
