Relocating to Lincoln 24 years ago, Sheila Odom definitely considers Lincoln “home.” Sheila has a diverse career in marketing and sales and currently serves as a Development Officer for the Tabitha Foundation. She first jointed Rotary Club 14 in the early 2000’s where she served in many capacities, including Club Programs Chair and Club Secretary. Rotary runs in the Odom family, with Sheila’s husband Lance (also a Paul Harris fellow) serving as a past President of Lincoln South Rotary and the Lincoln South Rotary Foundation. Sheila and Lance have one son, Harper, who is in his junior year at UNL with a pre-med major. On giving to The Rotary Foundation, Sheila said “I give to the Rotary Foundation because I have a strong belief in charitable giving and the mission of Rotary both at home and abroad.”
Dr. Arthur (Art) Zygielbaum is an Emeritus Research Associate Professor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Natural Resources. In January 2019 he began his second attempt at retirement. Art joined UNL after spending nearly 30 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory progressing from an engineer working on spacecraft tracking systems to a senior manager. He was on the science and tracking teams of many space missions, including Voyager, Viking and Helios, and helped test Einstein’s theory of general relativity. Art holds a BS in Physics from the University of California at Los Angeles and a MS in Electrical Engineering-Computers from the University of Southern California. In 1998, he joined The University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a member of the administrative faculty working in educational technology. Art “retired” in 2005 to pursue a PhD in Geography/Remote Sensing at UNL. After completing the degree in December 2009, he joined the faculty. Along with teaching, Art performed research in the measurement of vegetation stress and photoprotective response.
Art appreciates being able to support The Rotary Foundation. The Foundation supports outstanding projects improving the lives of people throughout the world. This is one way that he can help other people. This is one way to say "thank you" to all who have helped him and to share his good fortunes.

Last week at Rotary, the Art Knox Rotary 60th Anniversary continues. Past President Roger Ludemann recognized Art Knox for his decades' support of the Club 14 Foundation and the recently launched 5/25 Fund Campaign. If you had served an organization for 60 years, when half of the Rotarians in the room were not even born yet, then you must be a legend. And that's Art Knox! Art is our Rotary legend and inspires all Rotarians to continue to serve above themselves.
Past President Roger Ludemann, speaking on behalf of the Club14 Foundation, recognized Art Knox for his enthusiastic support for the 5/25 Fund Campaign and decades of support to the Club Foundation.

Omaha Millard Rotary President Scott Buchholz is looking for a 4-person Rotary 14 Golf Team for their annual Gold fundraiser on Aug 31st at Tiburon Golf Course in Gretna! Funds from tournament are used to give out Rotary Scholarships to students at the three Millard High Schools. Their participation the last few years has been dropping and they are looking to have a successful golf event this year with Lincoln 14 participation. The more participation the more dollars they raise for students scholarships. It will be great to have Rotary 14 represented at the Millard Rotary annual golf event. Following President John Gessert's bold membership goal of 275 by July 1, 2023, and putting into equation attrition by yearend, Membership Chair Mark Feit wasted no time and got to work immediately by proposing 305 members by June 30, 2023. Bring a guest to Rotary with lunch courtesy of Rotary. Don't forget to hand your guest a Rotary envelope marked "Prospective Member Packet." For questions, please contact Membership Chair Mark Feit at markfeit@live.com.
Jennifer Jones, Rotary International’s first female president, is the perfect leader to spread the word about the good Rotary does in the world, and inspire its members to keep going. At a training seminar for Rotary club presidents-elect at a Dallas-area hotel in February, sergeants-at-arms wearing yellow vests and Stetsons lead participants, grouped by Rotary district, into a small room for a photo op with 2022-23 Rotary International President Jennifer Jones. As the groups enter, the club leaders mob Jones — the room a flurry of handshakes, fist bumps, hugs, and the occasional squeal. For each photo, the Stetson-clad Rotarians (nicknamed "Rangers") give instructions on who should stand where, then Jones, who is seated front-row center, stands up, turns around, and warms up the crowd. "Is this the best district?" she asks one. She challenges a district to dance, busting a groove on the tan and gray patterned hotel carpet. Another, she teases, is the best looking. And then there's the "party" district, whose members give a raucous cheer. Read more, click here.
